I’m excited to launch Materialized View, a newsletter about software infrastructure. The newsletter will have news, developer interviews, stack deep dives, and project and paper highlights. I’ll also give my own thoughts and commentary.
Origin story
A friend of mine texted recently asked for interesting infrastructure projects that he could read up on. I sent him the list and decided to post it to Twitter since I thought others might be into it. Turns out, you were!
I posted a few more follow-on tweets sharing even more projects. Eventually, I gave up on the tweets and started awesome-infra. Again, the feedback and engagement was great. There’s clearly excitement.
Rather than posting things scattershot on Twitter, Bluesky, Github, and in private DMs and texts, I’m going to share my thoughts publicly and regularly in one place: Materialized View.
Plans for Materialized View
Materialized View is a free newsletter. As I said above, I’ll cover software infrastructure news, developer interviews, stack deep dives, and project and paper highlights. The newsletter will go out like messages in a Kafka producer with a linger.ms of 2 weeks and a batch.size of 3-4 items.
I’m open to doing premium content, audio, video, chat, and more. Newsletters are just lower touch and let me gauge interest. It’s up to you. Let me know if you’d be into premium content.
